LOCATION SCOUTING
Every scout begins with understanding the production brief.
We analyse scripts, treatments, storyboards, visual references and production requirements to identify locations that best support the Director and Production Designer's creative vision.
Locations are considered not only for their visual suitability, but also for practical factors such as access, available space, surrounding activity, crew and vehicle requirements, public interaction and potential logistical challenges.
Our extensive knowledge of KwaZulu-Natal allows us to scout a diverse range of urban, rural, coastal, industrial, residential, historical and wilderness environments.

KwaZulu-Natal offers an exceptional variety of filming environments within relatively accessible travelling distances.
The province includes the Indian Ocean coastline, golden beaches, subtropical vegetation, rolling hills, forests, rivers, waterfalls, savanna and the dramatic Drakensberg mountain range.
Durban and surrounding areas provide an equally diverse range of urban environments, including modern commercial districts, industrial areas, residential neighbourhoods, informal urban environments, historic buildings and distinctive Art Deco architecture.

LOCATION DATABASE
Guartec Services has developed an extensive photographic location database through many years of professional scouting.
This resource allows us to respond quickly to treatments, scripts, storyboards and production briefs and to identify potential location options during the early stages of a project.
The database is supported by active scouting whenever a production requires new, specialised or previously undocumented locations.
